Paying for Potency: An In-Depth View of Lab Shopping and Regulations

Starting at the beginning of 2018, all Legal Cannabis Companies are required to have lab tests on each batch of their products to ensure the medication patients and recreational users are consuming are clean. Years before California went recreational, companies have been sending their products to get tested for potency, to prove what they’re selling is high quality. These tests are essential to catch brands that are selling bunk products to consumers. However, a little-known fact is that not all labs test the same. Companies have been taking advantage of the lack of regulation and consistency in this space to do some “Lab Shopping”, in hopes to get better a better result of THC Potency.
