Draft BC Craft Cannabis Co-Op Rules Released

Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island Roundtable Meetings Next Week for Small-Producers, Processors and Retailers

Coast Salish Territory/Vancouver, BC—Grow Tech Labs today released draft governance rules and confirmed dates for community roundtable meetings on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast as part of the next phase of community engagement to establish a BC craft cannabis co-op for small producers, processors and retailers.

The draft co-op rules reflect feedback from the first round of consultation that took place this spring. The draft phase one consultation report is available here.

Dates and times for community roundtable meetings for small cannabis producers, processors and retailers next week are:

Monday, July 8 - Sunshine Coast (Gibsons) Gibsons Public Market; 473 Gower Point Road; 1:30pm – 4:20pm

Tuesday, July 9 – Vancouver Island (Duncan) Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn; 6474 Trans-Canada Highway; 1:30pm – 4:20pm

Wednesday, July 10 – Vancouver Island (Courtenay) Best Western Westerly; 1590 Cliffe Avenue; 1:30pm – 4:20pm

“To be effective, a BC craft cannabis co-op’s governance structure needs to reflect the interests of all potential members,” said GTL CEO Barinder Rasode. “These local meetings give small cannabis producers, processors and retailers the opportunity to provide feedback on the co-op’s proposed membership, investment and Board structure.”

Potential co-op members are also invited to complete an on-line survey about the co-op’s proposed governance and structure:

Last week the co-op released an economic impact analysis last week that calculated small producers and processors could create $5.8B in direct economic impact and over 40,000 jobs across rural BC and Western Canada.
