DUII Arrest Led To An MS Diagnosis!
I was arrested for DUII for suspicion of being on weed. I had not had any THC in 2 weeks. THC was a month ago. No alcohol. So I submit to tests and fail, so I was arrested, taken in, took breath and it was 0.00. DRE tests, also fail across the board. Took urine test that could take a year to come back! Puzzled that I was sober and failed all these tests, I went to see my Dr. She observed nystagmus in my eyes, observed a weak gait, and muscle weakness, in coordination. She referred me to a neurologist immediately, awaiting an MRI and spinal for suspicion of early stages of MS! I'm in OR. It is my understanding that I must go through a diversion, even with medical documentation. Any amount of THC is automatic guilty. WTF? Then I find out that exposure to DRE LED light effects gait of someone with MS. Basically, DRE tests directly parallel tests for MS! s So if you failed sobriety tests, especially the eyes, and you have not smoked recently, see a doctor right away! Meanwhile, I am now a criminal in Oregon, regardless of Dr. Diagnosis. Talk about draconian. Crazy!
